Robin Padilla Promotes Organic Lifestyle, Recommends Natural Cough Medicine

Showbiz icon Robin Padilla advocates organic lifestyle–a revolutionary way of living simple, healthful and close to nature. This is why he is proud of his latest endorsement deal for natural cough medicine, ASCOF Lagundi.

Robin-Padilla-Talk

During the press conference for ASCOF Lagundi on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Events Place in Quezon City, Robin Padilla revealed some details about his new ‘revolution’ which is embracing an organic lifestyle–a way of living healthy by eating all-natural (non-processed) food at the same time improve the environment.

This is why Pascual Consumer Healthcare Corporation tapped the action star to endorse their natural cough medicine, ASCOF Lagundi–the first licensed herbal medicine from the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) launched in the market.

Robin is proud of his new endorsement because the cough medicine is 100% organic and it complements very well to his “revolution.”

“Kaya po puti ang suot ko dahil eto na ang pinakahihintay kong masasabi ko pong endorsement. Sa itinagal ko po sa larangan ng pelikula at telebisyon, masasabi ko po na ang ‘organic revolution’ ay ang tunay at ito po talaga ang dapat at tama na ipaglaban po natin para sa mga kababayan natin.”

Robin-Padilla-for-ASCOF

At first, the award-winning actor was hesitant about the project because he thought he would be endorsing a synthetic product, something he tries to avoid because he prefers to use herbal medicines in real life.

“‘Nung unang pinitch sa akin ‘to, sabi ko ayaw ko ng mga gamot kasi hindi ako uminom ng gamot kasi kami ni Mariel organic [living]… pero ‘nung nakita ko na organic talaga ang ASCOF Lagundi [pumayag na agad ako],” says Robin in an interview when he visited LAC Farms, one of the country’s biggest OCCP (Organic Certification Center of the Philippines), GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)-certified organic farm owned by Pascual Laboratories, the maker of ASCOF Lagundi.

Robin and wife Mariel Rodriguez believe that one should choose herbal medicines because it is natural unlike synthetic ones that may cause liver deterioration.

“Marami po tayong gamot na maiinom na available over-the-counter na gagamutin ‘yung sakit mo pero sisirain naman ‘yung liver mo,” says Robin.

Cough being one of the most common sicknesses in the Philippines resulted in the increase in number of cough medicines, all with claims to be the most effective in addressing it. While this is true, not all brands can claim that they are natural and organic.

ASCOF Lagundi, an herbal medicine, is one of the few that can claim that it is natural, organic, and effective against cough. It has a luwag-tunaw combo action against cough—a bronchodilating effect that widens inflamed/constricted air passageways in the lungs, giving relief to the patient, and a mucolytic action that melts phlegm for easier expectoration.

“‘Yung Chairman ng aming company, si Dr. Abraham F. Pascual, ay may advocacy na mag-develop ng natural products kasi marami talaga sa Philippines na halaman na may medicinal properties so it’s his advocacy to develop products that will be good for the consumers. We find that we are aligned with Mr. Robin Padilla’s own advocacy kaya naman siya ang kinuha namin as endorser for ASCOF,” says Ayne Rili, ASCOF’s Senior Brand Manager.

“Ang maganda sa ASCOF ay sila ‘yung unang brand na gumamit ng Lagundi. Iyong ASCOF, 19 years na sila,’yung iba sumunod na lang,” says Robin.

Robin with Product

Having produced Lagundi leaves from its own certified-organic farm, you can only expect that PascualLab uses the best ingredients, coupled with strict quality standards and modern technology.

With the couple’s newly shared interest and practice, Robin says that it brought them to different countries to really study the lifestyle. While Robin says that explaining this kind of living will be a long discussion, he says that his biggest takeaway is feeling lighter and more at ease with his body every day.

Practicing this way of living for almost three years now, the action star feels responsible to share his discovery to everyone because it is good for one’s overall wellness.

“Meron tayong moral obligation sa mga taong naniniwala sa atin na dalhin natin sila sa tama. Ito ang paraan natin to give back, [to only endorse] the truth. Itong organic medicine is the best na maibibigay natin sa tao,” says Robin.

Directed by Josh Trank of the widely celebrated “Chronicle” movie that came to popular radar of recent times, “Fantastic Four” is also co-produced and written by Simon Kinberg – known to the world who scribed the most thrilling blockbuster movies the world has ever seen in “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “X-Men: The Last Stand,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and “Jumper,” rewrites the awesome foursome’s journey from ordinary human beings to the universe’s superheroes.

“Fantastic Four” is the first Marvel superhero team and longest-running comic book title in its more than fifty-year history created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby back on 1961, way before X-Men and Avengers. With over 150 million comic books sold and wherein the previously released movies of the team made a box-office hit of US$620 million worldwide, the upcoming movie release poises to surpass the previous blockbuster records with Trank’s higher goals on making the latest adaptation on the journey and transformation of the four from ordinary humans to being heroes.

2015’s “Fantastic Four” is a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team – centering on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate universe that later alters their physical form in shocking ways. With their newfound powers, the team eventually learns to harness their new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

Starring Miles Teller as Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as Sue Storm aka The Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm aka The Thing, “Fantastic Four” director Trank further revealed in recent interviews that he has gone for a different distinct vibe on making the movie, “The original two films to me are very similar to a lot of recent movies that have come out, in terms of that kind of cartoonishness, says Trank.” It’s just not something that me and Simon are interested in as storytellers.”

Moreso, Trank disclosed that “My dream has always been to make a hard sci-fi film, and my biggest influences in that realm are early David Cronenberg films like Scanners and The Fly.” Such that for his four superheroes, audiences will be in for a jaw-dropping character-driven and unprecedented movie experience that they’ve been working on for three-and-a-half-years.

“Fantastic Four” (3D) opens in the Philippines nationwide on August 6 from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

‘Inside Out’– New Trailer

Disney-Pixar has released the full trailer for its new comedy “Inside Out,” revealing a new look at the little voices inside 11-year-old Riley’s head.

Inside Out

The new trailer, which may be viewed below, gives just a glimpse of the challenges facing Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Fear (Bill Hader), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Anger (Lewis Black) as they try to help Riley handle a new city, house and school after a move across the country.

The trailer also features new looks at Riley’s life, Joy and Sadness getting lost in Riley’s “Imagination Land” and what happens when the girl has a brain freeze.

From an adventurous balloon ride above the clouds to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Up”) has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In Disney•Pixar’s original movie “ Inside Out,” he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all—inside the mind.

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

Opening across the Philippines on August 19, “Inside Out” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

Angelica Panganiban and JM de Guzman, the lead stars of “Tadhana” also received nods of approval for their portrayal of Mace and Anthony, as both have bagged best actress and actor awards. Director Antoinette Jadaone’s film paved the way for Panganiban to win Best Actress award at the 2014 Cinema One Originals Film Festival, while de Guzman was named Best Actor at the Gawad Pasado. “Tadhana” is inspired by Richard Linklater’s 1995 classic, “Before Sunrise.” The Cinema One Originals film follows the story of two Filipino strangers, Mace (Angelica Panganiban) and Anthony (JM de Guzman) who bump into each other at Rome’s airport. At the check-in counter, a struggling Mace who made countless attempts to pass the baggage load requirements was saved with the help of Anthony. Charo Santos-Concio Tells Media Students: Good Values Matter at Pinoy Media Congress Year 9

After discussing how technology has changed the way media content is created and consumed, Santos-Concio advised the next generation of mass communicators to be responsible communicators, and to use media not to destroy but to inspire.

“Your talent may win you your dream. But only your good values that will make you feel proud of yourself,” she said.

Santos-Concio is one of the speakers who shared wisdom and inspiration in the event organized by ABS-CBN and the Philippine Association of Communication Educators Foundation (PACEF) to help prepare communication students for their future roles in the media.

Students indeed gained understanding of the industry they are about to enter as they learned how digital television works, found out how the radio, film, and publishing outfits can use technology to push their platforms, and also how to create and distribute content based on the audiences behavior, and many more.

Resource speakers were ABS-CBN executives Fernando Villar, Maria Concepcion Alcedo, March Ventosa, Marah Faner-Capuyan, Roxy Liquigan, Ging Reyes, Donald Lim, Leo Katigbak, Enrico Santos, Vivian Tin, and Laurenti Dyogi. Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication president Prof. Ramon R. Tuazon, ABS-CBN News correspondent Atom Araullo, and Movie and Television Review & Classification Board chairman Atty. Eugenio H. Villareal. Among the congress’ panelists were ABS-CBN Publishing Inc. president Ernie Lopez, ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc. (AFPI) creative director Vanessa Valdez, AFPI consultant Angie Yu-Pineda, and ABS-CBN business units heads Linggit Tan-Marasigan, Deo Endrinal, Julie Ann Benitez, Ginny Ocampo, Lui Andrada, Joyce Liquicia, and Reily Santiago.

After learning about the current and future trends and practices in the industry, the students also had a dialogue with the ABS-CBN bosses led by head of Free TV Cory Vidanes. Apart from answering the delegates’ questions, they also gave them advice on how to make it in the industry.

Vidanes said balancing media work and one’s personal life requires a lot of hard work and sacrifice. Reyes said critical-thinking and passion is a must. Tin said it is a combination of having great skills and a good disposition and spirit. Dyogi, meanwhile, urged them to learn to tell good stories, which they can practice in their own families.

Media Congress

The delegates, some of them coming from as far as Baguio, Tacloban, and Cagayan de Oro, took to social media to express their satisfaction with the event, which also featured surprise performances from Kapamilya stars.

On Twitter, Ysabel Bonifacio tweeted “It was the best congress I have attended for this school year, while Majji Porcalla posted I feel so honored to be a part of the event. I learned a lot!”

Via Instagram, Jonah Garcia said “It was nice to hear it all from the professionals of the Communication Industry,” while Angelica Gallardo posted “We got the chance to hear the insights and experiences of the prominent people in the industry and we also got the chance to see artists perform.”

With another successful staging of the PMC, ABS-CBN Integrated Corporate Communications Division officer in charge Kane Errol Choa said the best is yet to come for Pinoy Media Congress.

“We are very happy to say that there’s a rise in the number of delegates every year. Were also honored that other institutions have come up with events similar to the PMC. With the partnership, ABS-CBN will continue to engage and educate students in the years to come to ensure a better and brighter media in the future for all of us.
