Controversial TV host Willie Revillame announced on his noontime show “Wowowillie” on Tuesday that he will no longer renewing his contract with TV5 when it expires in October.
Revillame surprised his studio audience on Tuesday when he announced his intent to retire after his contract with TV5 ends this October.
The 50-year-old TV host said “burnout” is the main reason why he wanted to take a long vacation after “Wowowillie” ends this October.
“Kailangan ko ng break kasi parang na-drain ako. Na-burnout ako. Aanhin ko naman ang mga naipon ko kung magkakasakit naman ako dahil sa stress?” he said.
Revillame also revealed that he already submitted his “intent to retire” letter to the TV5 management last May 17.
Meanwhile, TV5 has released a short statement on Tuesday afternoon regarding Revillame’s “intent to retire”:
“We respect the decision of Mr. Willie Revillame to retire upon the expiry of his contract with TV5. We wish him well in his new pursuits.”
Last week, “Wowowillie” business unit head Jay Montelibano denied rumors that Willie Revillame is allegedly demanding a P90-million monthly talent fee from TV5.

Filipino artist Nelson Bohol, a veteran of several Pixar films like “Finding Nemo,” “The Incredibles,” “Cars” and “WALL-E,” figures in the fun facts released by Disney/Pixar regarding its upcoming animated comedy “Monsters University.”
Screaming with laughter and oozing with heart, “Monsters University” is the prequel to the 2001 blockbuster hit “Monsters, Inc.” Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.
Take a load of the following fun trivia on “Monsters University”:
Monsters University’s library is called Bohol Hall, named after Filipino-American Pixar artist Nelson Bohol who designed it.
Dean Hardscrabble’s character was modeled after a type of centipede called Scolopendra Gigantea, also known as the Amazonian giant centipede.
The design of Archie the Scare Pig was inspired by director Dan Scanlon’s dog Carol, a Japanese Chin.
Don Carlton’s business card lists his address as 1200 Dark Ave. Pixar’s Emeryville address is 1200 Park Ave.
There were 100,856 storyboards delivered for “Monsters University”—the highest number on any Pixar film.
Monsters University was founded in 1313.
There are six different schools of study at Monsters University: School of Scaring, School of Engineering, School of Liberal Arts & Monstrosities, School of Science, School of Business and School of Aquatics.
The address of the Oozma Kappa fraternity house is the same address as the house where director Dan Scanlon grew up.
Opening across the Philippines on June 26 in Disney Digital 3D, 2D and regular theaters, “Monsters University” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

In “Man of Steel,” a young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.
“Man of Steel” stars Henry Cavill in the role of Superman/Clark Kent, alongside three-time Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix, Michael Kelly, Richard Schiff and Russell Crowe.
The film is produced by Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer, from a story by Goyer & Nolan, based upon Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and published by DC Entertainment. Thomas Tull, Lloyd Phillips and Jon Peters are the film’s executive producers.
“Man of Steel” is slated for release in the Philippines on June 12, 2013 in IMAX 3D, Digital 3D and regular theaters and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
The country’s most popular love team of all time–Nora Aunor and Tirso Cruz III–are set to reunite in the upcoming made-for-TV movie “When I Fall In Love.”
During Nora Aunor‘s 60th birthday celebration at the Meralco Multi-Purpose Hall in Ortigas on Tuesday, May 21, TV5 made an announcement that surprised the guest and media. TV5 Business Unite Head JoAnn Banaga and director Joel Lamangan officially revealed that the sensational “Guy and Pip” love team in the 70s is making a comeback!
The Superstar will be reunited with her first love, Tirso Cruz III, in the upcoming romantic tele-movie on TV5 titled “When I Fall In Love.” Other cast-members of the said project include Marvin Agustin, Nadine Samonte, Karel Marquez, and Akihiro Blanco.
It can be recalled that the Guy and Pip love team started in the box office hit “The Musical Teenage Idol” in 1969. Their tandem was unusual because for the first time, a morena (Nora) was paired with a mestizo (Tirso), breaking stereotypes in movie casting at that time. And the unusual became phenomenal as other films/projects of Nora and Tirso have drawn millions of fans longing to see them. Even Maria Leonora Theresa, the doll given by Pip to Guy, was a sensation.
This year, after more than 4 decades, the phenomenal love team of all time is set to make a comeback. This rare project will be made possible by TV5 not only for the Noranians but also for the showbiz industry in general.
TV5 is cooking a sexy teleserye with the breathtaking “Misibis Bay” as the location and starring two of the most beautiful young stars of today, Ritz Azul and Megan Young.
Both Ritz Azul and Megan Young have gone daring on the cover of a men’s magazine before but they both agreed that they’re going to be a lot sexier in TV5′s upcoming drama series “Misibis Bay.”
In an interview by Interaksyon, Ritz revealed that they are required to wear a two-piece in the said project.
“Bawal daw ang one-piece lang! Kailangan at required na two-piece kaya nakaka-pressure! But I will be confident enough to show them what I have. If I was able to do that for FHM, I will be able to do that again in ‘Misibis Bay’,” she said.
Megan Young, on the other hand, told PEP that her role in “Misibis Bay” is sexier than what she did in “Hiyas,” her last teleserye.
“Nakakatawa nga kasi nga I am used to be told na magdala ng ten sets casual for taping. Ngayon, they will ask me to bring ten sets of bathing suits and specifically two-piece bikini ang required!
“So it’s really a sexy and daring role for me and ready naman ako.
That was my first time to try a sexy role. But I think itong Misibis Bay, it’s a lot sexier than Hiyas,” she said.
Also starring in “Misibis Bay” are Artista Academy alums Malak So Shdifat and Vin Abrenica, Victor Silayan and Luke Jickain of Boracay Bodies, and veteran actors Boots Anson Roa and Christopher de Leon.
Directed by Monti Parungao, “Misibis Bay” will heat up the TV screens very soon.
