“Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa” was named the biggest winner in the 35th Gawad Urian by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino on Wednesday night, June 13,at the AFP Theater in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
“Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa” took home seven awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Paulo Avelino and Best Supporting Actress for Jean Garcia.
Maja Salvador, on the other hand, won the Best Actress trophy for “Thelma.”
Mainstream movies like “No Other Woman,” “In the Name of Love,” “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,” and the MMFF Best Picture “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story,” were not able to win any award.
It’s also interesting to note that the Cinemalaya Best Picture and the country’s entry to the Oscar Awards–”Ang Babae sa Septic Tank”–was snubbed in the Urian.
