Xiao Zhan of China Named 2019’s ‘Asian Drama Actor of the Year’

It has been a tight battle between Thailand’s Suradet Piniwat and China’s Xiao Zhan for Asian Drama Actor of the Year since the poll started last December 4. On Thursday’s deadline, December 12, Xiao Zhan emerged as the winner with a whopping 112,632 votes or 42.71% beating 11 other finalists from South Korea, Thailand, and The Philippines.

The 28-year-old actor is a member of the Chinese Idol group called X NINE. His first acting recognition was in the drama “Oh! My Emperor” in 2018. His popularity got a major boost after portraying the role Wei Wuxian in the Chinese period drama “The Untamed” which also won Asian Drama of the Year in Starmometer’s 2nd Asian Drama Awards.

Xiao Zhan also finished 5th in the 2019 edition of “100 Sexiest Men in the World” behind four BTS members namely Kim Taehyung (#1), Park Jimin (#2), Jeon Jungkook (#3), and Kim Seokjin (#4).

This year’s runner-up for Asian Drama Actor of the Year is Suradet Piniwat from Thailand. The 20-year-old Thai actor was nominated for his performance in “2 Brothers.” He got a total of 90,250 votes or 32.44% overall.

Placing 3rd and 4th respectively are South Korea’s Song Joong-Ki for “Arthdal Chronicles” and Lee Seung-Gi for “Vagabond.” In fifthn place is Joshua Garcia of the Philippines for “The Killer Bride.”
