American Idol 2012 has given us a terrific Top 3 show. It’s the toughest battle for the final 2 ever!

During the American Idol Top 3 performance night, there were three stages of competition: The Judges’ Choice, Jimmy Iovine’s Choice and the Contestant’s Choice.

JUDGES’ CHOICE

Joshua Ledet, “I’d Rather Go Blind” by Etta James
Jessica Sanchez, “My All” by Mariah Carey
Phillip Phillips, “Beggin’” by Madcon

CONTESTANTS’ CHOICE

Joshua Ledet, “Imagine” by John Lennon
Jessica Sanchez, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith
Phillip Phillips, “Disease” by Matchbox 20

JIMMY’S CHOICE

Joshua Ledet, “No More Drama” by Mary J. Blige
Jessica Sanchez, “I’ll Be There” by the Jackson 5
Phillip Phillips, “We’ve Got Tonight” by Bob Seger

During the judges round, Randy Jackson picked the song “I’d Rather Go Blind” by Etta James for Joshua Ledet. It was a very good song choice that helped Ledet showcased once again that he can slay any song thrown at him. But in my opinion, it lacked energy compared to his “It’s a Man Man Man’s World” last week. Nevertheless, I think he’s the one to beat.

Steven Tyler picked “Beggin” by Madcon for Phillip Phillips. Contrary to what Randy said, I think this is Phillip’s best of the night.

Jennifer Lopez has chosen “My All” by Mariah Carrey for Jessica Sanchez. A Mariah song on Idol is very rare because of the degree of difficulty. Nevertheless, Randy said it was one of the best Mariah songs sung on TV.

In Jimmy Iovine Round, Randy Jackson threw Jessica Sanchez under the bus by saying he did not like her rendition of “I’ll Be There.” Moreover, he pimped Phillip Phillips by saying his rendition of “We’ve Got Tonight” was PP’s best ever. I mean really? The best ever? I don’t think so dude. I think “Volcano” and “Still Rainin’” were miles better.

In the Personal Round, I think Jessica made a good decision when she picked “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” for this round. I posted weeks ago that I wanted her to sing this song and she did! However, I think her rendition showed that she’s not feeling well because it lacked the power. The Regine Velasquez’ version was a good way to kill it, but nevertheless, it was still good and she got a standing O from Steven Tyler.
