400-year-old diamond called “Beau Sancy” is being sold in upcoming auction.
One of the world’s oldest diamond in private hands, the 400-year-old “Beau Sancy” is set to be sold at Sotheby’s auction house next month.
But before the auction, it will grace various exhibits in Paris, London and Zurich for the public to see.
The diamond has a weight of 34.98 carats and has a shape like a pear.
Believed to have originated from the Indian city of Golconda, the 400-year-old diamond made its way through four royal European families and once belonged to Queen Marie de Medici of France. Its most recent owners are the descendants of the last Emperor of Germany.
The gem will be auctioned on May 14 in Geneva.
